“Love Stood Still” was part two of the Love Series and on this track I expressed more anger and frustration then on any of the songs in this series. Even when I performed it live I cut the beat on the second verse because there the audience got to feel more of the hurt that I was going through at the time. The dark piano loop by Theory Hazit fit the emotion of the song perfectly. The second verse touches more on the idea of me hiding the sadness I felt when everything fell apart with my ex. “I’m not allowed to cry cuz I’m supposed to be a man, but what do you do when heartbreak hits you so hard” is really the line that summarizes that verse. It pinpoints exactly how I felt. DJ Aktual (my label mate) came through and laced some really nice cuts to this joint. This is probably one of my favorite joints to perform live even though I’ve only done it once. So if you get a chance to see….come through.
